At A.P. van den Berg, we develop advanced CPT data systems for precise soil investigations. Our Icone data system provides real-time insight into soil structure and properties, forming the core of accurate geotechnical analysis.

Icone: four standard parameters

The Icone measures the following key soil parameters:

• Cone tip resistance (qc): Provides insight into soil strength and bearing capacity.
• Sleeve friction (fs): Essential for soil classification.
• Pore water pressure (u): Detects water permeability.
• Inclination (lx/Iy): Measures deviation from vertical, ensuring reliable readings.

All data is displayed instantly via the Icontrol data logger for fast and accurate interpretation.

Expandable with plug & play modules

The Icone system can be expanded with innovative modules to gather additional soil information:

• Icone Seismic Module
  Measures seismic wave speed to determine soil stiffness—critical for stability and earthquake analysis.
• Icone Conductivity Module
  Detects variations in electrical conductivity, helping identify layer changes, salt layers and contamination.
• Icone Magneto Module
  Identifies metal objects such as UXO, pipelines, sheet piling, and foundations for safety and risk assessment.
• Icone Vane
  Measures undrained shear strength in soft soils, ideal for stability analyses.
