The Track-Truck of A.P. van den Berg is a high-performance CPT Truck designed for geotechnical soil investigation. It operates effortlessly on both paved roads and the most challenging terrains. Thanks to the unique combination of tracks and conventional wheels, the Track-Truck is ideal for Cone Penetrations Tests (CPTs) in all soil types. A.P. van den Berg, inventor of the Track-Truck, developed this innovative concept more than 35 years ago. Since then, the Track-Truck has become the industry standard.
CPT Trucks with tracks and truck capacity
When the tracks are retracted, the Track-Truck can travel on highways like a conventional truck. In soft, hilly, or challenging terrain, the tracks are lowered, reducing the wheel load by 60 – 70%. This significantly lowers ground pressure, minimizes the risk of getting stuck, and provides increased grip and stability during CPT operations.
Flexible operation: from the cabin or remotely
The Track-Truck can be operated either from the cabin or by remote control. Remote operations enhances safety and precision during CPT activities in urban environments, on construction sites, or in nature reserves.

Choice of multiple reliable CPT pushers
The Track-Truck can be equipped with three CPT pusher systems:
- HYSON – The reliable industry standard for over 40 years.
- COSON – Continuous CPTs with high production speed.
- COSON-ST – Fully automatic, hands-free CPT operations.
The HYSON CPT tower combined with a hydraulic pull/push clamp and automatic control, delivers up to a 10% increase in productivity compared to alternative systems available on the market. All systems are operated intuitively via a user-friendly Human–Machine Interface (HMI).
Sustainable CPTs with the hybrid and 100% electric Track-Truck
To support more sustainable site investigations, A.P. van den Berg offers the Track-Truck in hybrid and fully electric versions. Following the successful introduction of the world’s first hybrid Track-Truck in 2021, the first 100% electric Track-Truck was launched in 2026. Both solutions enable silent and emission-free CPT operations on site, making them particularly suitable for projects in urban areas, environmentally sensitive locations, and regions with stringent sustainability targets.
