Wireless data transfer via light conduction
The Optocone replaces the traditional measuring cable with a fully wireless system, simplifying handling, improving operator comfort and enabling automation options such as automatic pipe handling.
An optical adapter, positioned directly behind the cone, digitizes the measurement signals and transmits them upward via light conduction. The signals are received by an optical receiver (camera) mounted above the CPT string on the upper bridge of the penetrometer. This eliminates the need for a measuring cable.
Advanced electronics ensure continuous signal recording, even during the addition of new CPT rods. Data from the optical receiver is combined with depth information in the Icontrol datalogger and displayed in real time via Ifield software. Measurement data is securely stored and forwarded, preventing data loss during rod changes.
The Optocone is compatible with all onshore CPT systems and suitable for any CPT depth. Optical repeaters can be added when extended range is required.
