Click-on modules
A.P. van den Berg’s Icone click-on modules are designed for maximum flexibility and accuracy in the field. They are fully compatible with both the 10 cm² and 15 cm² Icone and function effortlessly in a variety of applications – from standard Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) to specialized measurements in complex soil conditions.
Smart and modular soil investigation with Icone
Today’s geotechnical projects require a complete and accurate picture of the soil. Whether designing foundations that are subject to vibrations, detecting soil contamination, or performing risk analyses for infrastructure projects, you need reliable data, preferably in one go.
Traditionally, these parameters are determined using separate systems and sequential tests. This takes time, increases the risk of inaccuracies, and makes projects more expensive.

Our digital CPT measurement system with smart click-on modules puts an end to this. Thanks to digital communication via a thin, flexible measuring cable, there is sufficient bandwidth available to use multiple advanced sensors simultaneously – without changing cones, cables, or data loggers.
The click-on modules are easy to integrate with both the 10 cm² and 15 cm² Icone and can also be used with a blank tip (without CPT data) if necessary.
Plug & play
The following modules are available:
- Icone Seismic Module
Measures the speed of seismic waves to determine soil stiffness – essential for stability and earthquake analyses.
- Icone Vane
Directly measures the undrained shear strength in soft soils – ideal for stability analyses in soils such as clay and peat. The Icone Vane cannot be modularly connected to an Icone.
- Icone Magneto Module
Measures the amplification of the geomagnetic field. Detects metal objects such as UXO, pipelines, sheet piling, and foundation remains – for safety studies and risk analyses.
- Icone Conductivity Module
Measures the electrical conductivity of the soil. Registers variations in electrical conductivity – ideal for detecting layer transitions, salt layers, and contaminants.
Can be used worldwide – onshore and offshore
Together with the click-on modules, the Icone forms a reliable, modular measuring system that is used worldwide for both standard CPT work and specialist soil investigations – all via a single reliable digital platform.
