WISON-APB-3000

The WISON-APB-3000 is a wireline Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) system designed for geotechnical soil investigations in ultra-deep offshore environments, with a total operational depth of up to 3,000 meters ( water depth and drilling depth). Engineered to perform in the harshest offshore conditions, the system delivers a high level of accuracy, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Shown here is the cone used with the WISON-APB-3000, a wireline CPT system designed for water depths of up to 3,000 m.

Wireline CPT system for ultra-deep offshore soil investigation

The WISON-APB-3000 is ideally suited for operation in demanding ultra-deepwater environments. Key features include:

Autonomous CPT tool
Powered by an onboard battery pack and equipped with an integrated hydraulic drive system, allowing flexible and independent stroke operation.

Smart locking mechanism
An automatic electromechanical locking system secures the tool within the Bottom Hole Assembly. After completion of the CPT, the tool can be unlocked independently of the stroke achieved.

High-strength umbilical cable
Kevlar-reinforced and fitted with optical fibers, providing continuous power supply, real-time tool control, and high-speed data transmission.

Optimized winch
A constant-tension winch optimized for high tool movement speeds within the drill string, with a maximum speed of up to 5 m/s.

Expandable with samplers and modules
Supports Push and Piston samplers for soil sampling, as well as click-on modules such as the Icone Vane for in-situ measurement of undrained shear strength.

Applications

The WISON-APB-3000 is used worldwide for offshore geotechnical projects, including:

  • Pipeline route surveys
  • Oil and gas field exploration
  • Mining applications, including deep-sea mining

Real-time data acquisition

The WISON-APB-3000 is fully compatible with the digital Icone data acquisition system. This modular platform consists of Icontrol and Icones and can be expanded with click-on modules such as Vane, Conductivity, Magneto, and Seismic, enabling real-time data collection and flexible system configuration.

The system supports cones with tip areas of 5, 10, and 15 cmΒ², as well as the specially developed 10 cmΒ² Deep Water Icone. This pressure-compensated cone enables highly accurate measurements at extreme water depths.
