The ROSON-3D is A.P. van den Bergโ€™s most powerful seabed Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) system. It is specifically engineered for accurate geotechnical soil investigations across a wide range of offshore environments, from nearshore locations to ultra-deepwater operations. Powered by the innovative ROSON Triple Drive and delivering an impressive pushing force of 200 kN, the ROSON-3D achieves maximum CPT performance with penetration depths of up to 80 meters, even at water depths of up to 4,000 meters. The system can be fully deployed from a vessel of opportunity, providing maximum flexibility for offshore projects.

ROSON-3D:ย maximum performance in deep waters

The ROSON-3D builds on A.P. van den Bergโ€™s decades of experience in seabed CPT technology. Its advanced Triple Drive system clamps the CPT string between six electrically driven wheels and pushes it into the seabed in a fully controlled manner. Depending on seabed conditions, CPT penetration depths of up to 50 meters can be achieved.ย Like all ROSON seabed CPT systems, the ROSON-3D can be deployed from a vessel using an A-frame, crane, or moonpool, offering flexibility for a wide range of offshore operations.

The ROSON-3D seabed CPT system has a pushing force of 200 kN and is manufactured by A.P. van den Berg, for water depths of up to 4,000 m.

Real-time data communication via Powerline

The ROSON-3D uses the Icone powerline system for data transmission through the umbilical, ensuring stable, real-time transfer of measurement data to the deck.ย In nearshore and shallow-water offshore conditions, the measuring cable can be routed directly from the cone to the deck. This allows direct connection to the Icontrol and eliminates the need for a cable reel in the mast, simplifying the setup and enabling longer CPT lengths.

Easy to operate

The ROSON-3D is designed for ease of operation and utilizes the Icone data acquisition system from A.P. van den Berg. It is fully compatible with all standard cone sizes (5 cmยฒ, 10 cmยฒ, and 15 cmยฒ), including the deep water cone.ย The system can be expanded with a range of click-on modules, such as Seismic, Vane, Conductivity, and Magneto, providing flexibility for advanced geotechnical investigations.
