ROSON-1D with 70 kN pushing force
Since 1982, ROSON has been recognized as the global standard for offshore Cone Penetration Testing (CPT). The ROSON-1D is a compact and reliable CPT system designed for geotechnical soil investigation on the seabed. With a maximum pushing force of 70 kN, it is suitable for both nearshore and offshore applications. Its smart, modular design and ease of operation allow the ROSON-1D to be deployed from a wide range of vessel types, without requiring any vessel modifications.
ROSON-1D: a compact and versatile CPT system
The ROSON-1D is designed for seabed surveys at water depths of up to 1,500 meters. The system can be deployed from a vessel using an A-frame, crane, or moonpool. Its Single Drive system pushes the CPT rod string into the seabed using two electrically driven wheels, enabling reliable measurements at penetration depths of up to 20 meters below the seabed.

Nearshore application for water depths up to 500 m
For projects at water depths of up to approximately 500 meters, the ROSON-1D provides an efficient and reliable solution for nearshore CPT applications. In these situations, a simplified system configuration is often sufficient, and the use of a self-tensioning winch is typically not required.
In both nearshore and offshore environments with relatively shallow water depths, the measuring cable can be routed directly from the cone to the vessel deck. This allows direct connection to the Icontrol system, eliminating the need for a cable reel in the mast and further simplifying system operation
Easy operation and smart data acquisition
The ROSON-1D is fully compatible with the digital Icone data acquisition system and supports all commonly used cone sizes (5 cmยฒ, 10 cmยฒ, and 15 cmยฒ). In addition, the system accommodates click-on modules for Seismic, Vane, Conductivity, and Magneto testing, enabling flexible and efficient offshore CPT operations.
