HYSON pushing system
The HYSON is A.P. van den Berg’s tried and tested pushing system. With its double hydraulic cylinders and low-maintenance construction, the system has been the standard for reliable and accurate Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) in both onshore and nearshore environments for more than four decades.
The standard for CPT for over 40 years
The HYSON consists of a double cylinder set in an H-shape, with the piston rods attached to the vehicle frame and the cylinders themselves moving. This H-shape allows the operator to work at an ergonomic height, which simplifies the handling of CPT rods and reduces physical strain. Thanks to the hardened piston rods, the system is also virtually maintenance-free, making it suitable for long-term use under harsh conditions.
Accurate CPTs with reliable performance
The HYSON CPT penetrometer is integrated as standard in many CPT Trucks and is known for its reliability and precision. In combination with an optional hydraulic pull/push clamp and automatic rod screwer, productivity can be up to 10% higher than with traditional CPT systems.
Easy operation
The HYSON is operated via a user-friendly touch screen (HMI), which is located directly next to the pushing system. This gives the operator complete control over the cylinder movements, the vehicle engine, and the measurement and registration system. This intuitive control contributes to an efficient, error-free workflow.
The CPT SKID is an exception to this and is equipped with a hydraulic-mechanical lever control.
For nearshore applications
The HYSON is also ideal for Cone Penetration Tests in shallow water. From a pontoon or jack-up barge, the system functions as a fully-fledged onshore pushing device at water depths of up to approximately 30 meters. Casing pipes between the platform and the seabed are used to protect and guide the CPT string, provided that currents and tides are limited.
Compatible with Icone & click-on modules
Like other systems from A.P. van den Berg, the HYSON works seamlessly with the digital Icone data acquisition system, consisting of the Icontrol for central control, Icones (5, 10, and 15 cm²), Ifield software for real-time data visualization and click-on modules for additional measurements such as Seismic, Vane, Conductivity, and Magneto.
