Deep Water Icone
The Deep Water Icone is a pressure-compensated digital cone designed for highly accurate bottom Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) at depths of 500 to 4,000 meters below sea level. Thanks to pressure compensation, the cone measures reliably relative to the local hydrostatic pressure, with high accuracy across the entire depth range.
Reliable at great depths
Hydrostatic pressure increases with depth. Although the standard Icone measures reliably up to approximately 1,500 meters, the variations in water pressure at greater depths become too small in relation to the sensor range. The Deep Water Icone has been specifically developed to accurately measure excess pore pressure at great depths – essential for offshore foundation investigations and oil and gas installations.
Like the standard Icone, the Deep Water Icone measures four parameters: cone tip resistance (qc), sleeve friction (fs), pore water pressure (u2) and inclination (Ix/y).
Compatibility
The Deep Water Icone can be used with all ROSON and WISON-APB wireline CPT systems. For deep-sea applications, we recommend using the Deep Water ROSON and the WISON-APB-3000.
