CPT truck with tracks (Track Truck)

Track-Truck from A.P. van den Berg

No more getting stuck on a Cone Penetration Test (CPT) site

The main obstacle for performing Cone Penetration Tests is mobility on soft ground. Not however with the Track-Truck. Thanks to the integrated track system, the A.P. van den Berg Track-Truck is mobile where other heavy vehicles get stuck. The truck in combination with hydraulically driven tracks on the Cone Penetration Test (CPT) becomes a unique mobile vehicle, at home on soft soil. By retracting the tracks, which are remote controlled from the driver's cabin, the Track-Truck runs as an ordinary truck on the highway.

The track system is suitable for 4x4 off-road trucks and reduces the wheel load by 60 to 70%, enabling it to move on soft soil and still perform heavy Cone Penetration Tests (CPT's) between 180-200 kN with the HYSON, COSON, AUTOHYSON or AUTOCOSON CPT units. Modified versions of the Track-Truck can also be used as mobile drilling rigs, ambulances and field hospitals, mobile workshops, winch vehicles for cable-laying or mobile cranes. Steel or synthetic crawler plates can be used, depending on the application.

Wireless remote control

A remote control "chestpack" lets the operator manoeuvre the Track-Truck from a safe distance, yet with a clear view, and also serves to make maoeuvring possible on steep terrain. There's no cable to hinder the operator while he walks to find a suitable place to stand. Also there is no chance of failure because of running over the cable during manoeuvring.

Options for crawler plates

- Steel.
- Synthetic material.
- Domex: high strength steel with a flattened traction side.

The latter is an in-house innovation. These new plates reduce possible damage to the road or terrain and feature a 50% weight reduction compared to conventional steel plates. Furthermore they are less vulnerable to wear and tear than synthetic plates which are normally used to reduce weight. They are suitable for Track-Trucks as well as crawler vehicles.
