21 May 2010: CPT'10 very inspiring

Last Sunday, the 16th of May, Wim Hassing (Director Marketing & Sales A.P. van den Berg) set foot on Dutch ground again after some inspiring days in California (USA). He and Jim Brylawski from A.P. van den Berg Inc. joined the second international symposium on soil investigations using the in-stu test method: cone penetration testing (CPT). Read more

29 March 2010: New deep sea cone

Tests are ongoing with the new A.P. van den Berg deep sea CPT cone. We have developed this pressure-compensated cone to perform CPTs at water depths of 6,000 m, withstanding pressure of no less than 600 bar. To guarantee the measurement precision at this very high pressure we calibrate the deep sea cone at various pressures. The test results of the deep sea cone conform to the requirements of the ISO 22476 standard. Read more

12 March 2010: A.P. van den Berg participates in CPT'10

A.P. van den Berg participates in CPT'10 that takes place from May 9-11, 2010. The 2nd International Symposium on Cone Penetration Testing will be held in the Hyatt hotel of Huntington Beach, California, USA. The symposium is organized by the Technical Committee TC-16 of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) in collaboration with California State Polytechnic University. 6 December 2009: New series A.P. van den Berg hydraulic cylinders

At the beginning of 2009 A.P. van den Berg began to design a new series of double and single acting hydraulic cylinders for manufacture. They are for use in heavy industry and hydraulic engineering works. A.P. van den Berg expects to be better equipped to anticipate and take advantage of the demand in the sector by offering the complete concept from engineering through delivery of hydraulic units and cylinders. 5 December 2009: A flexible and fast track-mounted CPT rig

Recently Minnesota Geoservices in St. Paul, in the state of Minnesota USA received the first 15-ton Track-Rig built by A.P. van den Berg on a Morooka crawler. This is a one-of-kind CPT crawler. Read more

2 November 2009: Now also wireless testing using Icone!

A new module in the Icone family: the Icone Optic adapter makes wireless transmission of Icone test data possible using Optocone light conductors. The Icone Optic is connected to the cone and converts an electrical signal to an optical one. Read more

11 August 2009: One of a kind push-out press for Deltares

Deltares in Delft recently received from A.P. van den Berg a new hydraulic press to push out undisturbed soil samples from sample pipes. This unique press is suitable to push out undisturbed soil samples with a diameter from between 70 and 150 mm and a length of up to 1 m. The press can be operated by hand as well as semi-automatically and is mobile. Read more

6 July 2009: Project for Schiethaven bridge succesfully completed

The new Schiethaven bridge in Zaandam with a hydraulic drive from A.P. van den Berg Hydronics was put into use in May 2009. The bridge is part of a project, started by the town of Zaandam in 2004, to create a logical and fast connection between the industrial IJmond and the city of Amsterdam. Read more

30 June 2009: Good-bye workshop manager

Workshop manager Wibe de Vries said goodbye to his colleagues at A.P. van den Berg on June 30, 2009 to enter preretirement. Wibe contributed to the development of A.P. van den Berg for over thirty years. Read more

A.P. van den Berg (Heerenveen) and Keppel FELS (Singapore) are collaborating to enhance the safety of jack-up rig installations by integrating probes into jack-up rig legs designed to characterize seabed properties prior to installations. Read more

22 January 2009: Partnership between A.P. van den Berg and Bluestone Offshore

In 2008, GC Rieber Shipping took a 40% strategic stake on a geotechnical survey company – Bluestone Offshore. From start-up to operational, the team based in Singapore has come a long way in the past two years between purchasing their first vessel, initiating the retrofitting work with ST Marine early November and hiring key staff with extensive experience in Health & Safety, drilling, geotechnical and laboratory analysis. 9 January 2009: Track-Truck number 60 delivered to FUGRO

Recently A.P. van den Berg delivered the 60th Track-Truck to FUGRO Engineers in the Netherlands. The success of the Track-Truck system for CPT trucks has a rich history. The system is praised by users world-wide. During the years many improvements were made to the concept. Its usefulness was proven amply, especially in sites not yet prepared for building. Read more
